El Puerto San Carlos se encuentra ubicado en Bahía Magdalena, a 65 kilómetros al oeste de Cd. Constitución. Cuando la marea es alta, se sentirá como si estuviera en una isla ya que Puerto San Carlos se rodea de agua. 240 kilómetros de costa, playas y manglares rodean la bahía.

A fishing town, Puerto San Carlos' waters are known for the amount and diversity of fish and seafood they produce. Sport fishing is superb throughout the year -- amongst the many species you may catch are cabrilla, grouper, schnook, and halibut. From January through March, grey whales stay in the area and whale watching becomes the main attraction.

Puerto San Carlos has all facilities: comfortable hotels, good restaurants, telegraph office, doctors, gas station, post office, ice factory, and bus service.
